Israel is continuing its operations against infrastructure of the pro-Iranian Hezbollah militia in Lebanon, the military said on Saturday.
Two senior Hezbollah members were killed in a strike on the capital Beirut, according to the Israeli military, which said it had carried out dozens of attacks in the south of the country.
These were also supported by Israeli ground troops stationed on Lebanese soil, officials said.
Among other targets, weapons depots were said to have been hit. The army reported that two soldiers were seriously injured during the fighting in southern Lebanon.
The Lebanese news agency NNA reported numerous Israeli attacks during the morning and previous night, particularly in the south.
It said Israeli jets hit an ambulance belonging to the Risala rescue service near Nabatieh, killing five paramedics.
Risala is close to the Amal Movement, which is a key ally of Hezbollah.
According to NNA, a further attack in southern Lebanon killed four more people believed to be Syrian workers.
Hezbollah in turn claimed responsibility for several rocket attacks after reports of several volleys of missiles being fired towards Israel and at Israeli positions in Lebanon. There were no initial reports of injuries.
